Most air conditioners and heating units last about a decade. An industry average of 8-12 years is typical of most systems. Of course, life expectancy of AC and heating units is directly linked to properly maintaining your system. This is why our Priority Maintenance Program is so important. Heating & Cooling Repair and Service
Maynard Select’s Priority Maintenance Program allows our certified HVAC technicians to clean and inspect your heating and cooling system. This provides you with better efficiency by reducing energy bills, having less nuisance repair calls, safer operation and a peace of mind your system is working at its prime performance.
There are many types of filters on the market today. This can be confusing to choose which type is best. Filters range from a basic fiberglass style to very sophisticated electronic units. Basic fiberglass filters don’t filter much and are mostly discouraged due to the lack of performance. A good standard pleated filter would be best for most applications. The best filtration to have would be an electronic air cleaner, this filter can capture down to very small micron level. The electronic air cleaners do require more maintenance but do an incredible job.
One of the best ways to save on your utility bills would be to install a programmable thermostat. One of our certified HVAC technicians can install one of several types of programmable thermostats for you. Also, the twice a year Priority Maintenance Program will help drop energy costs as well.
The price of any HVAC system depends on what type of system you have, where your system is installed and what size it is. This is why it makes sense to have a Comfort Consultant to come out to your home and evaluate the type of installation necessary. National codes, local codes and safety requirements have changed many times over the years, so it is imperative that all aspects of the installation are carefully inspected. Upon a proper inspection, options will be provided with a written quote with no surprise fees.
Replacing your heating or cooling unit can definitely increase your energy efficiency, which often results in lower energy bills. Savings can depend on many factors, such as age of existing equipment, type of windows, insulation factors throughout the home, insulation value of ductwork and many other aspects. Most systems can save anywhere from 25% – 60%, depending on age and type of equipment that is right for your home.
